Lundell Residence is an addition to an existing house located in Revelstoke, British Columbia. The project extends the original dwelling to create a two-family arrangement, working carefully within the constraints of the existing structure, site, and neighbourhood context.
The addition is attached directly to the existing house and arranged as a clear extension of the original footprint. Its massing and height align with the existing building, allowing the enlarged volume to read as a cohesive whole rather than a separate intervention.
Internally, the added spaces are organised over two storeys, with primary rooms arranged for clarity of circulation and functional separation between dwellings. Connections between the existing house and the addition are direct and efficient, supporting independent use while remaining spatially integrated.
Designed to meet Step Code 5, the project integrates performance within the building envelope and overall organisation. The architectural expression of the addition is defined by a simple roof form and covered exterior areas that extend usable space beyond the interior. Openings and decks support daylight and outdoor access, reinforcing the relationship between interior rooms and the surrounding site.
