A&D HOUSE
REVELSTOKE, BRITISH COLUMBIA
COMPLETED 2025
A&D House is a compact three-bedroom residence located in Revelstoke, British Columbia. Set on a narrow 25 ft × 100 ft lot, the house responds to its mountain town context through a clear, ordered form that sits comfortably within the existing streetscape.
The interior layout works efficiently within the constraints of the site. Living spaces are consolidated within a modest footprint, while service spaces are carefully aligned to maintain legibility of circulation and structure. The result is a house that remains restrained in scale while feeling complete.
A high-level clerestory window defines the section, introducing consistent daylight deep into the plan and establishing a vertical dimension within the main living spaces without increasing footprint.
Environmental performance informs the design. The house is designed to meet Step Code 5 and is net-zero ready, relying on a durable envelope and controlled glazing strategy to support passive solar gain and high occupant comfort.
Material choice emphasises longevity. The exterior is finished in green board-and-batten cladding, with cedar soffits and window reveals providing warmth and depth. Internally, wood and metal finishes reinforce the project’s emphasis on restraint and long-term use in a high-snow, alpine environment.
