Nestled near the Columbia river, public walkways and a short distance from downtown Revelstoke. These clients wanted to renovate an existing building into a modern kitchen and shower building for diverse guests.

By choosing to keep the existing building and not to demolish. The impact of the project has been reduced to a minimum. Updating internal amenities to accommodate all age groups of guests including barrier free design. The main volume of the structure is presented as a large farmhouse building, keeping a vernacular form, that allows for sun shading and inland rain forest weather protection.  Exterior covered spaces and walkways keep visitors dry and connected with the lush environment just beyond the roof overhangs.

The goal of the project was not only to keep costs economical, but also offer a superb amenity building for a diverse range of guests. Indeed, the simple vernacular volume allows this project to be economical, sustainable and offer comfort for its inhabitants.
